Timothy West
Associate General Counsel/Chief of Staff to the Dean of CAFE'
Timothy West is an Associate General Counsel in the Office of Legal Counsel at the University of Kentucky and also serves as the Chief of Staff to the Dean of the College of Agriculture, Food and Environment. He has over 15 years of legal experience in the public and private sectors, including six with the University.
As Associate General Counsel, Mr. West advises the College of Agriculture, Food and Environment, including its faculty and staff, on various issues related to human resources, real estate, research, intellectual property, contracts and complex business agreements. He serves as a Hearing Officer for UK Human Resources, hearing grievances filed by university employees.
Before joining UK, Mr. West held positions with the Commonwealth of Kentucky, most recently serving as the General Counsel for the Department of Insurance. Prior to that, he served as the Associate General Counsel for the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission. Prior to his time in state government, he worked as a defense attorney for Fowler Bell in its Lexington office. His practice included all types of civil litigation, with a focus on personal injury and construction law.
Mr. West was born in Covington, Kentucky and raised in Lexington.
