Sara Chapman

Associate General Counsel

Sara Chapman is an Associate General Counsel at UK King’s Daughters Medical Center (“KDMC”) in Ashland, Kentucky. 

As an Associate General Counsel, Sara manages medical malpractice and general litigation and advises UK King’s Daughters in various areas of healthcare law, including contracts, regulatory compliance, risk management, operations, human resource issues, and licensing. In addition to her duties for UK King’s Daughters, Sara also provides legal guidance and assistance to the various UK King’s Daughters’ subsidiary corporations.

Sara has extensive experience in employment law, business, and intellectual property. She has practiced as a general litigation attorney, intellectual property, business, criminal and family law. 

Prior to joining UK King’s Daughters, Sara founded her solo practice of Sara Chapman Law, PLLC, in Huntington, West Virginia, where her practice centered on business law, intellectual property law, family law and criminal law. She also worked in a boutique civil litigation firm specializing in Labor, Employment & Employee Benefits. She has also worked in a boutique civil litigation firm where her practice centered on medical negligence. She also worked as a Guardian ad Litem in Cabell and Wayne County West Virginia representing children and their families. 

Sara grew up in Mingo County, West Virginia. She earned her law degree at Mitchell Hamline College of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota. She received her undergraduate degree and master’s degree from Marshall University.  Sara lives in Bellefonte, Kentucky with her family.
