Natalie Damron McCormick is an Assistant General Counsel in the Health Affairs and Research Group in the Office of Legal Counsel at the University of Kentucky. Her primary responsibilities include research and intellectual property matters, compliance, and complex transactions with ties to research and intellectual property. 

As Assistant General Counsel, Natalie advises the University in areas related to research including grants and contracts, intellectual property (patents, copyrights, and trademarks), research compliance, research misconduct, and a variety of other research related matters and contracts.

Prior to joining the University’s Office of Legal Counsel, Natalie worked in the University’s Office of Technology Commercialization where she focused on compliance and management of the University’s intellectual property portfolio to include negotiating a large volume of contracts related to confidentiality, research, and intellectual property. 

Before joining the University, Natalie spent a decade in private practice as a transactional attorney at a small, Lexington-based law firm focusing on real estate, banking, creditor’s rights, probate, and general corporate law. Natalie has extensive experience in contracts, confidentiality, commercial and residential real estate, due diligence, property rights, compliance, foreclosures, collections, and workouts. 

Natalie was born and raised in eastern-central Kentucky and received her undergraduate degree in Political Science from Georgetown College. She earned her law degree from Ohio Northern University, where she was a Book Award recipient in her International Human Rights course. Natalie is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, the United States District Courts of the Eastern and Western District of Kentucky, and the United States Bankruptcy Courts of the Eastern and Western District of Kentucky.
