Margaret Pisacano

Deputy General Counsel of Medical Risk Management

Margaret Pisacano is  the Deputy General Counsel of Medical Risk Management, overseeing Medical Risk operations.  She is the co-supervisor of the UK HealthCare Externship with the UK College of Law.

Prior to her graduation from the UK College of Law in 1989, she was a registered nurse with experience in a variety of clinical areas. She worked as a medical malpractice defense attorney in private practice for eighteen years before joining the University of Kentucky in 2007.

As Deputy General Counsel for the Medical Risk Management group, she oversees all medical malpractice litigation brought against the University of Kentucky Medical Center and its affiliated hospitals, clinics, and healthcare providers and provides legal counsel to the Medical Center on a wide range of enterprise and operational risk issues. She has been a frequent lecturer and presenter on medical risk issues and malpractice avoidance issues throughout her legal career.
