Margaret Pisacano is the Deputy General Counsel of Medical Risk Management, overseeing Medical Risk operations. She has over thirty-six years of legal experience in private practice and as in-house counsel.

Prior to her graduation from the UK College of Law in 1989, she was a registered nurse with experience in a variety of clinical areas. She worked as a medical malpractice defense attorney in private practice for eighteen years, first with Stites and Harbison and then with Jenkins, Pisacano, Robinson and Bailey, before joining the University of Kentucky in 2007.

As Deputy General Counsel for the Medical Risk Management group, Margaret oversees all medical malpractice litigation brought against the University of Kentucky Medical Center and its affiliated hospitals, clinics, and healthcare providers and provides legal counsel to the Medical Center on a wide range of enterprise and operational risk issues. She has been a frequent lecturer and presenter on medical risk issues and malpractice avoidance issues throughout her legal career.

Margaret graduated Magna Cum Laude from Vanderbilt University School of Nursing.  Her law degree is from the University of Kentucky where she was a member of the National Moot Court Board and was National Runner-up for Best Oral Advocate, graduating with High Distinction in 1989.
