Catherine Allison
Assistant General Counsel
Catherine Lynn Allison is an Assistant General Counsel for Health Affairs and Research Group at the University of Kentucky. In her current position, she advises the University in various areas of health care law, including patient privacy, operational matters, contracts, payer relations, and state and federal regulatory advice.
Prior to relocating to Kentucky, Catherine worked in private practice and public service in Washington, DC and Baltimore, MD. Catherine worked in-house for an insurance company as a member of the health benefits team, where she drafted contracts and analyzed federal and state law, pending legislation, and healthcare regulations. Before that, Catherine provided regulatory advice on Medicare and Medicaid hospital reporting programs as a senior health policy analyst for a not-for-profit corporation that operated a federally funded research and development center on behalf of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Catherine began her legal career as a litigation attorney at a boutique firm that focused on government contracts.
Originally from East Tennessee, Catherine received her undergraduate degree from Lipscomb University and her law degree from The George Washington University Law School. She is a member of the Kentucky, Virginia, and the District of Columbia Bars.
